Job Profile SummaryResponsible for using specialist Shipping knowledge to support the BP Shipping business in managing risks and securing competitive advantage through a range of approval, logistics, inspection, commercial and assurance activityJob AdvertThis Charterer/Bunker Buyer role combines the requirement to conclude efficient freight solutions in the specialty/barge markets, along with executing competitive fuel purchases for the bp Operated & Time Charter fleet.Key Accountabilities Negotiate and conclude efficient freight solutions in the specialty/barge markets (using a variety of contract structures and durations)Understand relevant business trading strategies to enable provision of innovative freight solutions that deliver incremental value to bpExecute competitive spot or prompt fuel purchases, and recommend and implement term supply solutionsProvide and analyse up-to-date and accurate forward demand data and exposure to enable optimum fuel purchasing and support for the Operated & Time Charter fleetMonitor KPIs and provision of feedback to the business on bunker suppliers and industry changesTo explore options and other structured product to manage bunker exposure risksTo manage any bunker quality and quantity claims and negotiate settlementsTo maintain in-depth knowledge of bunker markets, procedures, specifications and remain updated with industry regulations and standards including any changesProactively engage with reinvent bp and the bp shipping agenda to reduce emissions by actively engaging internal and external stakeholders to identify and understand opportunities for lower carbon fuelsBuild and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, offering support and guidance to ensure compliance and most cost-effective chartering and fuel purchasing strategiesProvide relevant market information on freight rates, bunker prices, and trends to internal customersActively participate in current and future projects designed to improve processes and procedures, maintain an awareness of digital developments in the chartering/bunkering spaceTo develop chartering/bunker strategies to allow navigation during volatilityParticipate in industry bodies and forums as a bp representative when requiredConduct all activities to fully follow Control and Compliance requirementsDesirable CriteriaEducated to Degree Level, or Equivalent.Shipping industry experience is considered highly desirable.Any education or qualifications in Power BI are highly desirable.Strong analytical & numeric abilitiesFocused, creative, and drivenGood negotiation and relationship management skillsAbility to interpret and clearly communicate market intelligenceAbility to work cross functionally and to perform under pressureExcellent team playerAt bp, we provide a phenomenal environment and benefits such as an open and inclusive culture, a great work-life balance, tremendous learning and development opportunities to craft your career path, life and health insurance, medical care package and many others!Diversity sits at the heart of our company and as an equal opportunity employer, we stay true to our mission by ensuring that our place can be anyone's place.
